Claim your Handshake Airdrop

The Handshake Organization raised money from top Silicon Valley investors including A16Z and Sequoia. They donated $10.2mm to GNU, Mozilla, and other internet foundations.

Now they're giving away ~4662 Handshake coins to qualifying developers on GitHub.

If you signed up on handshake.org in 2018 and received a "seed phrase" (24 words), then go here to claim your coins.

This page shows how to claim your coins to your Namebase account. Namebase is a registrar for Handshake domains and an exchange for Handshake coins.

Pro-tip: Handshake coins can be exchanged for US dollars or Bitcoin on the Namebase exchange. This is a great time to HODL and use your airdrop to bid on available Handshake domain names. As the adoption of HNS and Handshake domains increases, we are likely to see the value of both these assets increase over time. As early airdrop recipients, you are the best advocates and builders of Handshake.

Prerequisites

A GitHub account with 15 or more followers in 2018. The Handshake airdrop only includes GitHub developers with a certain number of followers (learn why).

Access to one of the SSH keys for your GitHub account If you're not sure where to look, your SSH key is probably on your main dev machine at ~/.ssh/id_rsa.

Node.js >= 8.0.0 (installation instructions). The claiming tool used in the instructions below is written in Node.js.

A Handshake wallet address. This is a freebie, we’ve already created a wallet addess for you, you can copy it in step 4.

The Handshake team found the top 250,000 open source contributors on Github and created a cryptographic data structure with all of their SSH public keys. This enables qualifying developers to securely claim their coins without intermediaries by generating a cryptographic proof using their SSH key
